It cannot be accepted that those that chose to commit to mortgages that were literally impossible for them to pay be rewarded. How can democrats not see the problem with this?
Khefri though I agree with you in some ways, I have to disagree in the sense that the people who CHOSE to live beyonds their means should be held accountable. If a car dealer convices me I can afford a ferrari and I’m stupid enough to believe it it is my fault.
I have to agree with you, those who put themselves into this mess should be answering for it or moving out.
The only people getting rewarded here are the Banks and and CEO’s. They got all that “free money” and now they wont even make loans to regular hardworking americans who have good credit. They are just holding on to it, and then they are having so many problems with their business and they don’t want to put their money into it, but the taxpayers money instead. We should be focused on what these crooked bankers are actually doing to help themselves and the country. The people who can’t pay their mortgages are being foreclosed on, and they did not get any reward. What should have happend was instead of giving these greedy bankers all this money to just put in their own pockets, they should have givin it to the taxpayers and that would have straightened this whole mess out. That may seem like a reward, but it would have helped our country get out of this situation, istead the money was given to curropt Ceos of Banks and nothing got done and they got more rich than they are, now they are laughing at us all. Who’s fault is it, people who went to the bank and got a loan that the bank lead them to believe they would be able to make payments on, or the Bank who knew better, but made the loan to begin with and made these people pay outragous interest rates?
I know you feel as though those people are being rewarded for taking on too much credit that they could not afford. But they aren’t. Besides, there was not much else to do. Sure, we could have left the banks to deal with the problem because they should have known better than to loan them money. But because so many people did this, the government had to step in.
What needs to happen now is people need to realize they can’t have everything they want. Those who are facing foreclosures are going to have to learn to save up cash for what they want.
Those who took out too much credit are probably also facing the consequences like job loses and the other problems that have resulted in it. Unfortunately everybody else suffers too, but that’s why the government is stepping in to make sure that we can all transition back into better times.
I look at it like this:
Not everyone who has been foreclosed on is in their current situation due to them living beyond their means. For example, there are couples that both the husband and wife work in the same factory. Both people are laid off and then eventually they lose their house. This type of thing is happening to good people who work hard and otherwise wouldn’t have lost their house. I believe that yes, we need to help these people. If in doing so some less deserving people also receive help, then I guess I’m ok with that.
If you pay your’re mortgage and someone else doesn’t do you get mad at them for receiving help?
If you can afford food to eat, do you get jealous of the homeless people who are offered free food?
I’m not.
It was the DemocRATS that wanted everyone to have the american dream of owning their own home. They screwed up and now want to bail out all of those people who took advantage of DemocRATS failed plans. Don’t blame bush. The republicans tried to stop fanny and freddy back and 2005 from making these loans and it was the DemocRATS who block them, INCLUDING A NEW SENATOR BY THE NAME OF OBUMO.
they are not rewarded. they are not getting free money. they are keeping the house and paying it off in a longer time. if you can’t pay yours because you or your wife lost a job. it might be helpful. plus forecloses bring everyone down. as much as i’d like to buy a house for 50,000 it’s not a good idea to let home prices drop that low.
Yeah go ahead, banks and mortgage companies will love that.
