I received a letter in the mail from “The Department of Debt Relief.” It looked like an official government letter so I checked the official government website USA.gov and I could not find it. That says to me that it is a scam. I also found an article on it By Herb Weisbaum at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18155301/ called “Debt relief deals ‘preying on consumer’s trust’ Many of these ‘too-good-to-be-true’ offers are run by con artists.” If you received a letter like this I suggest that you check it out before you contact them. Also, there are legitimate fanatical counselors and some of them are non-profit. I pray God will guide and protect you.

If this were actually real it would have been all over CNN, ABC, CBS, Fox News, etc. and for a long time. It hasn’t and wasn’t. No US Govt. identification anywhere on the mailing – the government NEVER sends anything to anybody unless it says the “US Government” on it. Just stating what should already be obvious for those who are not sure.

    Thanks for the info. :-)

Since there is no “Department of Debt Relief” I would hope no one is stupid enough to fall for it.
